Daniel "Blackie" Maestas Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Daniel (Danny) Albert “Blackie” Maestas, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2022 at the Denver Hospice after succumbing to a short battle with cancer. He will be truly missed by all whose lives he touched. Danny is preceded in death by his infant son Daniel as well as his grandparents Antonio Villalovas and Marianita Villalovas who he loved very much and spoke of often. His mother Mary Lou Christina Villalovas and father Albert Monico Maestas and step mother Rachel Flores also passed before him. He is also preceded in death by brothers Donald (who he missed with all his heart), Simon, Jamie and as well as his sisters Susan, Angelina and Loreen. His loving wife and soulmate Jessica will miss him dearly. Danny and Jessica met each other 40 years ago and spent the last 8 1/2 years together as husband and wife. They were always together and considered their dogs Cha-Cha and Chi-Chi their kids. Danny is also survived by his children DeeDee, Crystal, Daniel, Joshua Maestas (who he became very close to in the past few years and a son who made him a PROUD father), Demi and Mariah Maestas who he loved dearly and by his many siblings: sisters Glenda Lynne and Deborah Brothers Gino, Ray, Roy and Joey . His 8 grandchildren (as well as his many grandchildren he did not know): Andrew, Allee, Elias, Ashley, Mona, Michael, Jose and Angelito as well as the two he considered his grandchildren Azuriah and Aamiah, were always first in his thoughts and prayers and loved by him dearly. Mona Maestas will always hold a very special place in Danny's heart as he helped raise her from birth and shared a special bond sharing their love of second hand shopping, Batman and McDonalds. Danny had a large collection of Batman collectables, shoes (Converse mostly) and Clothes. He will be remembered for his Popeye, Bruce Lee and Batman shirts. Most of his grandchildren were convinced he WAS BATMAN but he never lead them to the Batcave. Danny had very many Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who he loved dearly. He also held his late father-in-law Orlando DeHerrera and ex mother-in-law Ida very close to his heart and credits them as well as Jessicas parents Ruben and Ramona Martinez as introducing them to his Faith in God. Blackie enjoyed drawing very much and was very good at tattoos, haircutting and horticulture. Danny was a firm believer in the God Almighty and it showed as God changed his life in the best way imaginable in his later years. His faith led him to know he was finally going to Heaven and he was very happy to go to the life ever after to meet God. There will be a memorial service on Saturday July 16 at 3 pm at Deliverance Tabernacle at 3939 W. Florida Avenue, Denver, CO 80219. A POTLUCK will be immediately after. Please feel free to bring a dish ,desert or drink. There will be no funeral or burial as Daniel did not want either and his wife chooses to keep his ashes with her forever.
