Donald Theodore Maes DT/Donnie 9/6/1935 -1/3/2022 Father: Bert Maes Mother: Rose Maes (Vigil) Donnie Maes has gone to be with our lord. He was greeted with loving, open arms and hearts by his many brothers, beautiful sister, mom & dad . His spirit is free now, just as he always lived his life! D.T. was a free spirit and modern nomad until the very end! He could light up a room with his smile and was a cool cat with a wicked sense of humor. Our dad lived his life on his terms even if they were complicated, He loved to laugh and tell stories even if he exaggerated the truth just to enhance the story and get a good laugh! There were very few people in his life that escaped a clever nickname from him and somehow we all knew who he was talking about ! Some of the most enjoyable times were driving around Denver and he would reminisce about his childhood and colorful lifetime of stories. He loved the wind and sunshine in his face and in his final years, his favorite place to be was sitting in the sun dreaming of God knows what... He was loved by many, I hope he knows this now! Rest in peace dad and most of all, make them laugh! Our dad’s remains will be taken on a road trip to Walsenburg, Co per his wishes to rest where he was born.
