Joann A. Madrid Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joann A. Madrid went to be with our Lord on November 15, 2021. She was born in Ocate, NM on March 26, 1941 to Gilbert and Maria Erminda Trujillo. She is preceded in death by her parents listed above; husband Bennie Madrid, brother William; son Samuel Madrid and brothers Richard and Leroy Trujillo. She is survived by her children Bennie, Carol, Alex, Faye, Marlene, Ronald, Yvonne, Kenny and Deborah as well as siblings Pauline, Angela, Sam; 26 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. JoAnn spent much of her carefree childhood at both of her grandparents’ home in Ocate, NM playing with cousins and aunts in the sprawling outdoors. She attended Springer High School where she was involved in many school activities and enjoyed an active social life. It was during her high school years she met and married Bennie Madrid, her husband of 57 years. Joann’s interests included reading, sewing, attending church, leading Bible studies, volunteering at the local food bank and spending time with her family. Her family described her as kind to everyone she met, very compassionate, energetic, loving and fun. She Loved the Lord with all her heart and will be dearly missed. Everyone is encouraged to wear the colors blue or purple the day of her service. JoAnn’s Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Monday December 6th for immediate family only.
